A Philadelphia rapper has recently filed civil rights claims after he said that two police officers falsely imprisoned him and invaded his privacy. Online sources revealed that the allegations stem from an incident last October when the 25-year-old musician was reportedly detained by law enforcement officials for nine hours after a routine traffic violation at 11th Street and Girard Avenue in the city.
After he was pulled over, authorities handcuffed the plaintiff, took him to the station, snapped photos of him and later posted them on a popular picture-sharing website. The rapper was then purportedly released from custody the next day at 4:30 a.m. In court documents, he said that he was never charged with a crime. He furthermore says that the decision to hold him caused him to miss a promotional appearance in Atlanta.
The 25-year-old also claimed that his detainment resulted in “the loss of numerous sponsorships and endorsements, the loss of plaintiff’s solitude, seclusion and privacy, the anxiety and embarrassment associated with plaintiff being placed in a false light, and the anxiety and embarrassment of being seized, detained, confined and imprisoned against plaintiff’s will.”
The Philadelphia native is seeking undisclosed punitive and compensatory damages. The two officers who arrested him are the defendants named in the suit.
